Age Concern Woodley - Day Care
SERVICES AVAILABLE AND BEING DEVELOPED
Services provided at the Day Centre, South Lake Crescent
Brightside: day care for an average of 40 older people each day in the "Brightside" unit. Most of those attending are transported to and from the Centre. A two course lunch is provided and a drink from the bar can be provided if desired. The day includes a variety and range of activities to provide social stimulation and interest for those attending.
Sensory Garden provides a stimulating area for those attending the Day Centre. The sensory garden was opened in 2004. The garden has a variety of features for the enjoyment of those attending.
Personal and support services available include chiropody, hairdressing, carers support group, services and advice from other
statutory and voluntary sources eg benefits advice via Age UK Berkshire, and contact with partner professionals.
Links continue to be developed and initiatives taken to ensure the social inclusion of all older people in the community. Together with others partners efforts will continue to support and address the needs of the lonely and those who are isolated. It is hoped to continue to develop locally based support within the community where that is possible. Overnight and short break services to support carers and people with dementia
Overnight and short break care at the Day Centre or in a carers home. In response to the views and needs of carers we are now in a position to offer short breaks for carers by providing linked day care and overnight care for people with Dementia.
